This extremely forceful motto becomes the hymn of this year’s festival in the hands of the world famous DJ and producer, Woody van Eyden. An unforgettable melody that will be impossible to forget for days after listening, massive break beats fused with uplifting strings, thumping energetic beats and sweet mesmerizing youthful vocals, are the elements of this extremely pleasurable to listen and dance anthem. I’m sure that many of you would love to get behind the scenes of the production of this great track. We manage to get some of Woody’s valuable time and asked him about the production of the anthem, his performance at the Open Air Floor, along with his friend of many years, Alex M.O.R.P.H. His forthcoming solo productions and the Heavens Gate radio show. If you visit Nature One, don't miss his solo performance at the HeavensGate & Butan Club floor, which will be definitely packed - so get there early!
Woody: The inspiration came up when we worked on a demo draft for the Nature One organizers at I-Motion. It grew and grew, and we could already hear......well, imagine.....the final track very early. To be honest, it took a bit longer than usual to finish it, as we always found some little things that we could improve in terms of quality, mixdown or arrangement details. But in the end it was totally worth it and we are really happy with the result! Woody: It just happened during the production process. You try different things, different sounds and beats as well, and when I heard it I already loved the idea to combine a typical dance kick with a Breakbeat loop to give the track a great dynamic change. Dimitri: Who is the girl that is delivering the great vocals and are you going to work with her for further tracks in the future? Woody: Her name is Ilana Harkavy, she's from the US and we already worked with her for some productions that will be released in the future.
Woody: 1) Chriss Ortega Remix: A really cool House version from Chriss, great production from him as always! Dimitri: This year’s Nature One motto is The Flag keeps Flying. What does this motto mean to you personally as an artist and DJ, and more generally for the whole dance electronic music culture? Woody: Of course it means that we (the electronic dance music scene) are still here, and we are still proud of what we do, and we are successful with it. And we will be here in the future as well. No matter what some people out there might say about the music and its scene. Woody: I'm 100% satisfied, that's why we did it like that, haha! After we worked with Butan Club (Germany's best club since several years in a row!) for 2 times now, we sat together and agreed on this Nature One co-op. We invited great Trance artists to play at our floor, like Gareth Emery, Menno de Jong, Estiva, Filo & Peri, Signum, Ruben de Ronde, Steve Anderson and many more, and we also have some techno guys on board, which Butan is well-known for. So it will definitely be a great fusion of HeavensGate & Butan and if you are there, make sure to visit us and have the time of your life with us!
Woody: Right now I'm not really sure. I think I will just walk around a bit and have a look here and there, and maybe I stay if I like something, yeah! Dimitri: According to the schedule along with Alex M.O.R.P.H. you will appear back 2 back for the closing set of this year’s Main Floor on Saturday. Do you enjoy playing b2b with Alex? Is there a secret behind this long lasting relationship between you and him?? Are you going to prepare any special edits to tracks or exclusive productions for your appearance there? Woody: Sure we both still enjoy the B2B sets; they are exciting and always packed with surprises in both music and performance. You never know what happens next! And yes, I'm sure to test out some new tunes or own edits, so you will hear something interesting for sure! Dimitri: For what reason do you believe Nature One is so successful that it attracts visitors from all over the world? Is there anything that you would like to see changed in this year’s Nature One? Something that maybe organizers should do to offer a better experience to the visitors? Woody: Well, the whole thing offers so many different styles of electronic music, that's why it can attract so many people from all over the world. There's something for everyone, simple as that! And they do a really fantastic job there at I-Motion. They know exactly how to organize such a big thing and how they can improve the visitor's experience - I'm in regular contact with them and we talk about various things regarding the festival. And I can tell you: they pretty much know what's good enough and what they should do to make it better! In fact, the Nature One is the biggest electronic dance festival in Europe. There's an impressive machinery behind it!
Woody: Maybe I didn't play all of them, but definitely most of them I think. One of the most memorable festivals was the Raindance in Abu Dhabi. It was so hot and all those people were dancing in their traditional clothing incl. turbans. Then suddenly during my set, they activated some massive watering system and it started to rain - in the middle of the desert! The crowd totally went NUTS! After my set, some people came up and put me on a turban, which was a big gesture of respect. I love to remember this event! Dimitri: The biggest news in the scene is of course Paul van Dyk’s decision to merge with Armada in Holland. Do you believe this is a good or bad decision for him and the artists of his label?? Woody: Yeah that's quite some surprising news! We'll see how this is going to work out and how the whole situation develops. One thing is for sure: the artists will continue to deliver quality music and that's the most important thing about it! Dimitri: We all expect with anticipation your comeback with a brand new track. Can you reveal for us when the new Woody van Eyden single will be out, on which label and what kind of sound we should expect to get? Woody: You know I'm a busy bee, Dimitri
Woody: We are slowly starting the Fenology engines again at the moment, with a single by Simon Hunt called "Chosen". The promo is just on the way! More releases will follow by Nurettin Colak and JayB; these will all be out in 2010! Dimitri: Your show 'HeavensGate' gets millions of listeners worldwide as it is syndicated to various radio stations. Why you believe that your show is enjoyed so much by the trance fans? Are you planning to change its running order at all in the future? Which episode is your all time favourite and why??? Woody: Besides all of our global radio partners that broadcast the show, we are live every Sunday at 20:00 CET on Germany's biggest dance station Sunshine Live, and we have a lot of live interactivity with the audience, which makes it very attractive and fun for them (and us). Combined with the great music it obviously hits the people's nerves which we are really happy about! I don't have a particular favourite episode, no. There have been some episodes that really amazed me, but don't ask me which number it was, hahaha!... Dimitri: Please give us your message to our web site visitors and particularly the most important reason to visit Nature One this year. Woody: The most important reason to visit Nature One? The Nature One IS the reason, hahaha! I really hope to see some people from Greece at the party, so what are you waiting for, get up and come to Germany for a great Nature One weekend! Thanks for your support and keep up your passion! Nature One Inc-The Flag keeps flying is out now to all the major download shops and you can buy it as well as CD single from Nature One’s web shop. Also this year’s festival compilation is out as well and it includes tracks from the majority of the artists that will perform at Nature One. Interview with Woody Van Eyden about this year Nature One’s anthem "The Flag keeps Flying"
Dimitri: Please give us a small comment about each remix on the package of the anthem:
New Woody van Eyden stuff is in the making, I will also start to work on my album after summer, but of course I cannot tell you any details about it at this time.
Dimitri: Your label Fenology brought to us in the past some fantastic trance releases and brand new talent. Are we going to see this label releasing material more often, and which releases are lined up for the future?
