Everything starts with a voice and when this voice belongs to Marcie we better listen what she would love to share with us and after its better to think really deep about them…
Reviews Corner presents Marcie’s Lyric Picks vol2: Being Real
We all feel like outsiders at times. Even amongst friends and families, we all have times when we are not comfortable in our own skin. We worry about how we are viewed by others, and how to fit in. We think about what we have in common with each other, & what our differences are. We struggle with feelings of inadequacy when we compare ourselves with others. We look down on people whom we make the mistake of viewing only superficially. We are afraid to be our real selves and we take on personas that might not reflect who we really are or want to be.
Here are some of my favourite tracks that deal with the struggle to be comfortable and happy with who we are.
DJ Tiesto- Just Be
"They say learning to love yourself is the first step
That you take when you want to be real
Flying on planes to exotic locations
won't teach you how you really feel"
I feel this track laid some lyrical groundwork for Trance Music. Trance music is meant to take a listener to a state of euphoria where love for others and self acceptance prevail.
First State feat. Sarah Howells- Brave
"If I was brave
I’d never get this wrong"
I love how this lyric admits a vulnerability. We all want to be strong and perfect, but we all have times of self doubt, mistakes, and disappointment. We make demands of ourselves that are hard to live up to.
Sunlounger feat. Zara- Lost
"Now that you have lost yourself,
oh can anything help you now"
In "Behind The Lyric Episode 7", Zara says this song is about losing control to her desires, betraying herself, and losing her self respect. She realized that without self respect, she felt lost in the world. Writing a song was a way to find herself again.
"Lost" is another track that speaks about following a true path. It's easy to lose ourselves when we give in to temptations and instant gratification. Listening to this track makes me feel that I am not alone, that everyone makes mistakes, and that I can rely on the strength inside myself during challenging times.
John O'Callaghan feat. Sarah Howells - Find Yourself
"Looking at life through a loaded gun
Take your best shot, aim it at the sun
Looking at life through a loaded gun
You know you’ll find
You’ll find yourself, you’ll find yourself alone"
This track seems to say that if you focus on superficial, selfish pursuits, then when you finally reach your goals, you will find you're all alone. Are our goals worth achieving if we alienate ourselves and hurt others along our path?
Andain- Beautiful Things:
"Stopped pushing on for just a second
Then nothing’s changed
Who am I this time?
Where’s my name?
I guess it crept away"
For me this track is about losing ourselves in a created identity, and then reminding ourselves that natural beauty exists around us all the time.
Doppler Effect- Beauty Hides In The Deep:
"Beauty hides in the deep
But its so hard to find
Being wrapped up inside"
Kirsty Hawkshaw & Tenisha - Outsiders
"Take a look at yourself as an outsider
Do you like what you see?
You can't see what you're thinking
You can't feel what you're feeling
You could be anyone"
The way Kirsty delivers these lines always makes me stop and think. The melody is part sung, part spoken, and I think that style works very well to get the point across, and set the mood for the rest of the vocal.
DJ Hashish feat. Marcie- Look Around
![]() "What is the answer to this fear?
I can't just watch and see
Should I take the easy way out, or should I
Should I just be me?"
When we're afraid, we might let our fear dictate our actions. We need to work hard to find the best solutions to our problems. We can't sit back and let other people do things for us, or try to take the easy way out.
OceanLab – On A Good Day
"Been talking to myself forever, yeah
And how I wish I knew me better, yeah
Still sitting on a shelf but never
Never seen the sun shine brighter"
How many of us truly feel we know ourselves? What does it take to know oneself?
Julian Vincent Feat. Cathy Burton – Here For Me
"You say I can love me for who I am
Don’t need to change or pretend
To see my own beauty is like breathing happiness
Just trust in my heart
Be real"
I like how this track describes someone telling her that she doesn't have to pretend to be anything other than herself. Love works best when it comes with acceptance.

“Yves Deruyter is a professional DJ for more than 20 years now. A man who has played on every single big event on the planet and still does today.
6 years ago he released his own cover version from Underworld's Born Slippy which was an instant worldwide success and still a big seller today, not to speak about the many big trance hits he's had with The Rebel, Feel Free, To The Rhythm, Calling Earth, ... all made through various collaborations.
Shortly after that, the new single Infinity followed. Now 5 years later Yves Deruyter is back once again, after trying out himself under various guises to do productions completely on his own, so he's ready to rock'n'roll again.
His new single is part of a new concept called R3MIXED that will bring brand new versions from some of our releases over the past 18 years and sort of the kick off for our 18th label birthday in May. So nothing, better than starting it with one of the few artists that was part of our label since the very beginning and still is today. “
Dimitri: One of the most influential EDM labels from Belgium brings back some of the best tracks from the vault with brand new remixes. It is so fun to hear young artists to try their hands on such big records and definitely Infinity is one of them. Very melodic and dreamy the original was available on vocal and instrumental versions. The new remixes some of them keep the male vocal in place and other offer instrumental remixes. The package includes 21 versions and its pretty impossible to write something for each. I will try though to pick up my favourites but please check out all of them to find the one that is closer to you. Castra & Sovve are names that I always check them out and their remix updates in the most energetic progressive way the original. Di Fire continues the progressive trance mixes with a touch of electro house offering a really different edge that is perfect for the current trend in progressive trance sets that boundaries are blurred. Rene Ablaze and Neo Kekkonen offer two very energetic versions on high speed and perfect for the uplifting sets as all the right elements are lined up waiting for your creative use. Milo & CJ Stone that are on fire lately offer another prog trance meets house version that simply work and will definitely be one to look out for. Of course the rest of the mixes are lovely so better have a close listen and decide. The track that is destined to last for long…

Edu - Our Home [Wild/Baroque records]
1-Original [10/10]2- Alandanat Remix [9/10]
“UK based Eldar Abdulajev, also known as EDU (or 5tranger) is a true rising star. With releases on Armada and Fektive . This release for Wild Records is a pounding piece of prog trance, with an energetic remix from Alandanat.. something to warm the heart on these cold winter days!”
Dimitri: Edu is one of the producers that I liked very much from his first releases and now he is officially one of the brightest hopes in the trance scene with top moment his release on Levare/Flashover recordings “Save The Planet”. Our Home will not disappoint as well as it is the usual melodic travelling driving kind of progressive trance that is full of synthy pleasures clever melodies and sounds that instantly warm you up like a nice hot cup of apple juice and cinnamon. The kind of trance that is not mechanic, and is rather artistic. Most importantly, you will discover different things every time that you will have the chance to listen to it. Alandanat mix is fine but not stand out as the original, however keeps the pace of the mix really nicely and not to be overlooked. This is wild at its best!

Right Face – Spread [Levare/Flashover recordings]
1. Spread (Original Mix) [10/10]“Hailing from Poland, Right Face started to play the piano at the age of 10
and developing a fine taste of music at this young age. The melodic track “Spread” is good example of his capacity to produce great uplifting trance. Supported by Ferry Corsten and Armin van Buuren”
Dimitri: Superb little uplifting Trancer that in just 6 minutes says everything about what a good feel good uplifting Trancer should be. A sure shot for many Dj’s as it packs all the nice elements that you expect to get in a trance track. The melody for sure will hook you and be careful when you listen to it on your i-Pod cause there is strong possibility to scream really loud when the beat comes back after the very atmospheric and filmic break. It would be nice to see this remixed as there is potential on it.
Cressida - Two-O-Ten remixes [Euphonic]
1-Ronski Speed Uplifting Mix2- Ronski Speed pres Sun Decade Mix
3-Fabian Schumann Remix [10/10]
Dimitri: Cressida’s Two-O-Ten was the stand out track from the same titled EP released the December of 2009 on Euphonic with great success. Of course, the original had a lot of potential and the idea to bring new mixes to push it on big rooms is fantastic. Firstly, Ronski Speed who has that ability to turn gold whatever track he has in his hands. Cressida skills are helpful to him as the original was pure class so he had to bring the original prog vibes to the uplifting floors and the result is fantastic. The uplifting 136 BPM mix has a very strong beat and kick drum that resembles electro tech trance kind of baselines but after the gigantic break the track is really lifted to the next level. It is great to see Ronski offering a faster mix and I hope more of his future remixes will be in the same vein. Sun Decade remix is deeper more electro housey in the first part but after the break is full of synths and melodic pleasure. The perfect track if you want to push your set from the more prog tunes to more uplifting melodic ones. Lastly, Fabian is doing another very classy production that fits perfectly any progressive trance or house set. Euphoric and driving this mix is the perfect audio massage that you need to warm you up for the big room tunes later in a set.
Bent – As you Fall (Kyau and Albert mix) [Euphonic Promo]
![]() 1-As you Fall (Kyau and Albert club and radio edit) [10/10]
Dimitri: Bent are Simon Mills & Nail Tolliday and according www.discogs.com: “Setting up their own label, Sport Recordings, the duo released three EPs (one as Johnny Flash And The Flames) before a highly-praised debut, "Programmed To Love". They formed Bent in Nottingham in 1997 after becoming disillusioned with the state of dance music at the time. Tolliday had previously been part of a famous Midlands-based sound system, DIY. Their ethereal, ambient, sample-heavy sound has been likened to Air, Moby and even Badly Drawn Boy. They are said to have made their early recordings with nothing more than a sampler and 2000 second-hand records that they bought for £50. Perhaps an illustration of Bent's irreverent and genre-defying approach is their use of vocal snippets sampled from Nana Mouskouri on two of their recordings, "I Love My Man" and "Always In My Heart". Like many dance music producers (notably Fatboy Slim), they take pride in reconceptualising somewhat overlooked material. The duo claim influences as diverse as Rolf Harris, Geoff Love, John Lennon, the Beach Boys to more clearly dance music-orientated ones such as Kid Loco and Aphex Twin.” Kyau and Albert touch in their own very unique prog trance with house and electro elements style the classic Bent track As you Fall. The result is fantastic and it is one of those moments that you think trance is the best music style in the world. The way that the beautiful airy fairy vocal is used is amazing and the German duo manage to provide a remix that in my ears is a lot better than the original. A sure future favourite for many, take my word for it.

Haris C – Symphony [Factual Records]
![]() 1-DNS Project Progressive Remix
2-Original Mix [10/10 for both]
“When it comes to energy combined with emotional vibes, Factual Records is always there to provide. We are proud to present Haris C's latest single called "Symphony" an uplifting Trancer that will keep you hypnotized while and after you hear it. If you are into the real Classic Trance with emotional elements such us Violin, Guitar and Piano melodies, then this is just for you! On remix duty we got yet another star in the making, DNS Project, the Estonian music prodigy as "Der Mystik" calls him, responsible for the "Luminosity" remix that lasted several weeks in the Trance Beatport chart, and "Mindful", played 2 weeks in row by Armin Van Buuren himself. This time he offers a Progressive outing with plenty of Electro influences for those who like the bass lines dirty while keeping the beauty of its melodies!”
Dimitri: Factual label has a bright feature ahead without a doubt and label honcho Haris C continues to deliver amazing goods. The original is an epic ‘full on’ banging Trancer with a very sensitive and highly musical break. It’s the kind of the breaks that people will truly relax, feel uplifted and ready when the beat back to dance like never before. The main part with the beat and all the elements coming together is simply second to none. Fantastic stuff I say, and do not overlook of course DNS project remix that goes the deeper Prog way . Of course I would prefer his more tech trance remixes but this one is great as it recreates in a very unique and special way with more blippy electronic sounds the melody and really he provides a totally different animal. Top package that is supported by the biggest names in the industry.
Avenger - First Sight [Mondo records]
![]() 1-Original Mix [8.5/10]
2-Corderoy Remix [10/10]
3- SJR's Driving Tech Remix [10/10]
“To continue the huge start to 2010, Mondo Records welcomes Lalindra Sanjeewa Chandrasiri AKA Avenger who steps up to deliver his debut release on the label. Mr Avenger being no stranger to the trance realms has graced us with anthems such as "Pegasus" and "Phoebe" in the past year. As a producer, he has become a firm favourite with many high profile trance DJ's and his music has won the hearts of thousands of uplifting trance fans around the globe. 'First Sight' is exactly what we've come to love from Avenger, hands in the air, skilful uplifting production and a punchy aggressive energy throughout. Mondo favourite Corderoy is on hand for remix duties, gracing us with that harmonious Corderoy style of powerful melodic trance. Signing off the package, we have a tech remix from rising producer SJR (aka Sam Round). A UK born and bred producer who is only 18 and has already enjoyed success of riding high in the Juno Top 100 Download chart with his debut release 'Aurora'.”
Dimitri: Avenger brings nice uplifting melodic releases and this one is very strong and tight but the real deal in here for me are the two massive remixes that turn it into an absolute essential package to purchase. Corderoy is doing the best mix in the pack full of energy and nice twists to keep the temperature really highly. Great use of the main melody with a beat and kick drum that is very tasty in a mix that runs like the fastest train in a journey that you have never experienced before with result to have in your hands another sure shot screaming for peak time use. SJR mix is pure class and I can see people like Judge Jules, Marcel Woods loving this and canning it full time. It contains all the elements that Dj’s search for the early morning moments when the people needed hard with less melodic moments and adventurous too. This will be favourite for many in the coming months.

Van der Vleuten – Meltdown [Musical Madness]
1-Original
2-Intro mix [10/10]
Dimitri: Joost van der Vleuten according to his discogs profile was born in 1978. At the age of 17 Joost joined the Royal Dutch Army. With his first salary he bought some more advanced equipment and changed his goals and aimed to make some music himself. The purchase of a computer followed and Joost started experimenting. In 2004 his first production was born. From then he started a very successful stream of productions and remixes for high quality labels like Banshee Worx ,Coldharbour Recordings, Conspiracy Recordings, Stellar Sounds, Cloud 9, No Smoking Recordings, Anjuna beats and now his first release on Musical Madness.
Meltdown is simply a very huge record with a lot of power. Its tech trance at its best with Teutonic beat, really hard kick drum and of course a break with big hooky electro kind riff that will raise the roofs of the clubs and even the Eiffel tower too. Its great peak time choice and one that lighting boys in the clubs can do wonders with it when the gigantic break will be on the speakers. When the beat resumes you can expect people shouting with joy and you can be sure that you have completed your job perfectly. In the impressive package there is an additional intro mix perfect if you want to start your set with it as a mood setter. Van der Vleuten proves with each release his ability to be on the spot and produce variety of EDM styles with great success. From deep and melodic to more harder and uplifting tech trance material, he is here to impress.

Karybde and Scylla - Infinite Shores EP [Deep Blue]
1- Infinite Shores (Original Prog Mix)2-Infinite Shores(Stonevalley Remix)
3-Delivrance (Original Mix) [10/10 for the whole package]
“'Karybde and Scylla' are French producers Sébastien Henri and Laurent Roux... who have been clocking up an impressive catalogue of releases on various labels since 2001. Now in 2010, Deepblue records are proud to give you their latest offering 'Infinite Shores' together with the equally impressive bonus track 'Delivrance' (not to be confused with the English word 'Deliverance'). The Original mix of 'Infinite Shores' begins as a warm prog-inspired number, awash of entrancing melodies which continue to peak their way towards the drop in full glory together with a 'moment' of sun-kissed guitars. On remix duties, the excellent 'Stonevalley' (aka 'Oliver P') provides one hell of a peak-time remix . Finally, to round off the package is the bonus track 'Delivrance' - Staying on a similar melodic vibe full of drive and energy this is by no means a filler, and is sure to deserve a place in many sets together with Infinite Shores.”
Dimitri: Karybde and Scylla productions are always high quality and for Deep Blue they deliver two great tunes that really can make you feel so good and satisfied while you listening to them. Infinite Shores is a well rounded proger that employ a very catsy summery quitter melody in the break and in that ways brings to the club atmosphere of a night in Ibiza or Greek Islands. Delivrance is a much more fast paced electro Trancer that has a lot of drive that is so much actually enough to drive you in the highest highs. I have already use both tracks in various editions of my radio shows and the audience numbers increased because of them so crowd has put its seal of approval. The Stonevalley mix pushes to the limit all the elements and transform the more proggier originals to a perfect secret weapon for the top moments of any set. Great tracks full of musicality and inspiration from people who love trance like us!

Dallaz Project - Feel The Crash [Neuroscience recordings]
1- Original Mix [8/10]
2-MaRLo mix [8.5/10]
3-CHRON!C Remix [9/10]
“In February 2009, Dallaz Project made his debut release with Neuroscience. 'In Motion' turned out to be a great success with support from DJs across the board including Armin van Buuren, John Askew, M.I.K.E. and Manuel Le Saux. Now, in 2010, Neuroscience presents the Dallaz project return for his second full release.
Moving away from his uplifting sound, 'Feel The Crash' is a superb fusion of big-room, tech-trance and progressive sounds. A dirty and deep bassline has been laid as the foundations of the track, and on top of this foundation, Dallaz Project has forged some great sounds. First up on remix duties Australian based producer MaRLo. Last but not least CHRON!C. Doing what he does best by turning the track in to an awesome prog-Trancer.
Dimitri: As you have noticed by now Neuroscience is present each week on Reviews Corner with high standards releases like this one. It is unfortunate that the original mix is not exactly my cup of tea. It is targeted towards the harder tech trance Dj’s that despite having an amazing melody in the break this does not continue to rest of the track and rather he present us a tough hard beat and kick drum with a clubby bassline that after a while bores me a little. MaRLo softens things by offering a more trancier mix with a very impressive break but he also does not move to the more uplifting side rather he uses the same clubby bassline too. For my taste CHRON!C mix is the best despite being proggier and deeper more electronic and blissful still keeps the pace of a mix quite nicely and audience feel involved with it. I would love to see an additional uplifting mix as the melody in the break cries for a full on mix.

Thomas Feijk - First Steps [Finity]
1-Thomas Feijk - Imaginary Friend 2-Thomas Feijk - Walking Against It
3-Thomas Feijk - The One You Love
“Finity label starts with a new trance package, Thomas Feijk - First Steps. Tomi Niittum?ki, young Finnish talent hits again with three nice trance tracks. Imaginary Friend, Walking Against It and The One You Love easily delivers all of the energy and style you have come to expect from a Thomas Feijk. Three powerful anthems with nice progressive and uplifting elements to dance floors.”
Dimitri: It is nice to have back the high quality label of Finity with an amazing EP from Thomas. Personally, I always search for tracks that have an atmosphere and personality. Something that is just the case with these three brilliant tracks. The stand out track Imaginary Friend uses in the break an amazing female vocal and an unforgettable piano melody. Certainly it’s the kind of the tracks that you can daydream with and escape in a mythical world. Walking against it is much more uplifting in a way with bubbly beat, fantastic chopped voices, and xylophone melodies that together create an optimistic cheerful atmosphere. The One you Love is another epic style prog Trancer with a lot of drive and intensity but still relaxed enough to let yourself go. A package that will bring euphoria in your heart and good luck in your personal life too.

Max Orian & Rob Colder - Eleven Thoughts [Mainframe/Fektive]
1-Original Mix2-Dub Vocal Mix
3-Instrumental Mix
4-Max Orian Remix [9/10 for the whole package]
“Max Orion & Rob Colder are Italian Dj’s and producers. Their previous releases got support from Tiesto, Johan Gielen, Marcel Woods and Sander van Doorn to name a few. Their debut release on Mainframe is called Eleven Thoughts and is a great melodically piece with beautiful vocals by AnnBee. San liked the dub mix so much that he included it in his forthcoming compilation CD.
Dimitri: Quality trance tracks once again on Fektive. Superb prog beats and I must say a really cool and unusual female vocal that is very fragile and honest. She sings in a such way that you know that she feels and means deeply every word of the Trancy lyrics without being pretentious. Trance tracks that are really travelling and moving with a lot of emotion and sensitivity for sure packed with inspiration about Eleven Thoughts. The number of thoughts certainly means something. The dub mix is good and if you don’t like a vocal choice can work really well. Max Orian mix is my favourite as it is more upbeat in an electro ultra power trance mode. Worth to check them out

Meridian - Positive Zero [Infrasonic]
![]() 1-Original Mix
2-Thomas Datt Remix
3-Suncatcher Remix
4-Med vs Neil Bamford Remix [10/10 for the whole package]
“After 2 years and counting Infrasonic welcomes back Hungarian producer Meridian for his eagerly anticipated follow up to Emphase. After being championed by Armin on hit radio show ASOT Emphase went on to become one of our biggest releases to date and his follow up has been well worth the wait. Heading the package is Polish producer Thomas Datt. Two more remixes complete the package. First up Romanian producer Suncatcher and UK based trance duo Med vs Neil Bamford round things off.”
Dimitri: Infrasonic is at the moment one of the most important independent trance labels and every release is essential purchase for any trance fan. Pure uplifting power that is very emotional and sweet in a way that really touches you deeply and make you feel the rush of it. The original is a steady powerful driving Trancer that includes an atmospheric and well crafted break with a melody that you will feel instantly. Even if your audience will not be familiar from it despite being in the playlists of the hottest Dj’s for sure they will react to it really positively as it is the kind of the tune that people stop for a while and give their warm hearted shouts and applause to the hard working DJ. The remix package can not get any better with Thomas Datt doing a more tech trance version with excellent use of the very recognizable melody and then Suncatcher surprisingly rather than heading towards a more epic 9 minutes mix lights a bit his bassline and beats and offers a much more straight forward uplifting affair. In my opinion it is really cool but it sounds a bit rushed and finally my favourite pick of the package is the Med vs Neil Bamford. The duo comes with the goods and they unleash a top uplifting and really energetic version that will be perfect if you want something that is fast and furious. Infrasonic can not go wrong and certainly the bond with the trance community remains intact.

Activa and Giuseppe Ottaviani, Activa - Long Way Back / Don't Leave Me [Discover]
1- Activa and Giuseppe Ottaviani - Long Way Back (Giuseppe Ottaviani Mix)2- Activa and Giuseppe Ottaviani - Long Way Back (Original Album Version)
3- Activa - Don't Leave Me (Club Edit) [10/10 for the whole package]
“Towards the end of 2009 Activa released his debut artist album "This World". The producer who less than a year before had been described by Paul Van Dyk as the "Best Producer of 2008" duly delivered one of the best dance albums of 2009 and cemented his place amongst dance music's production elite. One of the features of the album was a series of collaborations with some of Activa's favourite producers and it is his collaboration with Vandit superstar Giuseppe Ottaviani that is the backbone of Discover's latest release which includes the original album version and a fresh new remix from Giuseppe. If that wasn't enough is included Activa's brand new "club" version of the album track "Don't Leave Me" which brings the release home in suitably uplifting style!”
Dimitri: Its great to see trance producers coming together, sharing skills, and co-producing some amazing tracks. So the idea of Rob/Activa to come together with Giuseppe is the most sensible as their sound have many similarities but each of them having their own strengths and weaknesses. I believe that the whole idea behind co-productions is to iron out any issues and offer a quality product that is not ephemeral and will last for years. If you listen carefully their co-production Long Way Back is for sure quite easily to distinguish the input that each producer has on it and see both Rob and Giuseppe on each note and beat of that beautiful track. Discover wants to satisfy us even more so the so cool G.O is doing an additional remix enriched with all the nutritious flavours and Giuseppe vitamin sounds. Also in this ultra special release, you will have the chance to get in your hands the equally banging “Don’t Leave Me” with a long calming but very emotional and emotive break. This is a package not to be missed if you are into clean cut pure uplifting sounds of these two trendsetters.

Cosmic Gate – Barra [ Black Hole]
1-Extended [10/10]2-Edit
“The German duo Cosmic Gate always keep up their rep when it comes to their productions. This new single entitled "Barra", once again confirms their professionalism and continuous drive to deliver outstanding quality. "Barra" is one of those fantastic big room tracks to play for your audience when you're lined up at a great event, indoor or outdoor, and you just know that you can make 'em rush to the dance floor, raise their hands, cheer and maybe even have them put up their "tune!" signs. Especially the DJs that dig the Back 2 Back series will appreciate this one blindly, 'cause this new Cosmic Gate allows you to perfectly work your way to a lovely climax. The more or less under cooled tone of the track is carried by subtle beats, percussion and string stabs and then there it is: a truly chilling break that simply keeps towering until they bring the beat back.”
Dimitri: Cosmic Gate new mix CD Back 2 Back is expected with anticipation in the trance community from the day that the outstanding tracklisting was known. Bara is a tune produced for the dance floor and it moves away from the vocal anthems that they have released in 2009 with great success. Many of them are still played and slowly trespass to the mainstream daytime radio in many countries. For instance, their wonderful “Under your Spell” with Aruna on vocals gets lately a lot of daytime attention and will be one of the big tracks for this winter/spring 2010. Barra is a true uplifting gem at the beat is bouncy and demanding and the break is full of the sounds that drive you bezerk at the moment any Trancer. Very uplifting and full on in the very melodic break reminds me a bit the Giuseppe Ottaviani kind of melodies. For sure this release will keep progressive trance fans happy and the DJ satisfied smiling in the corner and thinking" I'm great" , Its great and its official.

DJ Nell & DJ Beda feat. Anthya - Dance with me [Axwax Records]
1-Original vocal and instrumental [8.5/10]
2-Soulcry vocal and instrumental [9.5/10]
“Nadia Bonifacio, alias Anthya, was born in Milan (Italy), where she lives and works. She began studying singing and music in 2000, following her passion for John Lennon and the Beatles. Since 2002 she has worked in recording studios in Milan as a vocalist and composer, where she also began to meet various musicians and producers.
She recorded her first single called "Razza Bastarda" in 2005 for Riverecords. This song has united her two great passions: music and animals, and this song is strongly against all the unnecessary cruelty that people perform against animals, which are defenceless creatures who don't have a voice. Her work on her songs allowed her to meet the DJ and producer Alex Bartlett and she subsequently began a close working relationship with trance music. Working as a composer and singer with Alex Bartlett in 2007, she wrote his new single "Universe Inside" (Drizzly Records). Some of her projects as a singer and songwriter of melody vocals are "Touch the Sun" (Air Music), "Heaven" (Air Music), "Off the World" (Vandit Records), "Devotion" (Red Silver Online-Digital), "Enchanted" (Drizzly Records), "High" (Asgard Digital), "Let it Flow" (Lunatique),"My Angel" (Insatiable Record), "In the End" (Black Hole recording),“Floating Beyond” (Lange Recordings), “Losing Gravity” (Lunatique),“Light to Lies”(Armada), and “Tonight” (Factual Records).Recently, she has also been working on new projects in pop music, jingle for show TV and trance music in collaborations with various producers and DJs and most recently she has started collaborations with DJ Kam and DJ Nell(Nelka) for new trance music pr objects.”
Dimitri: Axwax is such a classic label and thanks to them we had some amazing releases with Amnesia by Alex Bartlett being the biggest that has been rereleased many times from various labels. The brand new release is a nice tune that is pretty short less than 5 minutes in the original form that I wish to be longer and more developed. Of course if you want something targeted for the main hour of your set you will go towards the amazingly melodic and very infectious Soulcry mix. Vocal trance at its best with Anthya offering her sensitive and true vocal abilities upon a very nice uplifting beat with a nice synthy hook that will travel your mind, body and soul. It is such a cool release that deserves to get additional remixes and become a huge club stomper.

Ian Fabe - The Big Bang Theory [Redux Digital]
1-Radio Mix
2-Original Mix [9/10]
3-Comavas Remix [8/10]
Dimitri: Redux Digital new release in our Reviews Corner is the new artist in my ears Ian Fabe. The track is called “The Big Bang Theory” and is offered in two versions. Of course the stronger and the best is the original mix that is very banging, uplifting, melodic and of course in the high quality material that we used to get from Redux that has become one of the most consistent and important trance label in Germany. Comavas mix is the progressive trance alternative that is more deep and with the usual electro influences but in my opinion is a missed opportunity as I feel that doesn’t stand close to the top original. For sure you better check it out and see if it works for you

Sonny M - Forever Lost EP [Upbeat music]
![]() 1- Sonny M - Forever Lost (Original Mix)[9/10]
2-Sonny M - Moving On (Original Mix)[9.5/10]
3-Sonny M - Rush Hour (Original Mix) [8.5/10]
“Influenced by the sounds of early hip-hop, UK producer and Upbeat protégé Sonny started making tracks aged just 15. Working to a strict rule that each of his productions are born out of real life experience, the quality and originality of these three superb numbers reflects his inspiration. Here Sonny has crafted an energetic EP with a signature style which sets a very tough act to follow, produced through Fruity Loops and using a DAW of enviable potential.
First of the trio is Forever Lost, a warm pulsing fast-paced Trancer. Next up is Moving On which is produced around simple yet lethally effective piano notation and finally Rush Hour brings the EP to a close with its soft and haunting breakdown.”
Dimitri: Another top example of the ability of upbeat to bring new faces in the trance scene. Sonny is so young and his productions are faultless. Full on uplifting trancers with distinctive themes and different kind of beats and composition, all 3 perfect for different moments of a thought DJ set. For sure though all three are peak time tracks for Dj’s who search for music that is not generic has some kind of inspiration. Moving on is my favourite because it’s much more solid straight to the point and I could not stop humming its melody while I was playing it in my shows. Forever lost is has a lighter beat and kick drum, is really playful and energetic and delivers an impressive amount of adrenalin on the trance floor. Rush Hour follows the title and can surely lead you on the dance floor near you. Worth checking out, not to be missed.

Vincent de Jager - Crazy For You EP [E Musica Digital]
![]() 1- Vincent de Jager - Crazy For You
2- Vincent de Jager - Things I Will Never Say [9/10 for both]
“Making his debut on the é música blue imprint, we have a very talented Dutchman by the name of Vincent de Jager. This two-track is a prime example of Vincent's production talents. He's created two superb progressive tracks which have a great melodic and rhythmic sound. Both 'Crazy For You' and 'Things I Will Never Say' manage to create an uplifting feeling, due to the sounds that Vincent has created.”
Dimitri: Of course the crowd demands tracks from the known names and labels but its always a nice adventure to try out material from new talented artists like Julian. Both are very passionate tracks about progressive trance as they are driving, melodic, playful and sincere and most importantly they don’t pretend to be the super anthems. It’s the kind of the tunes that some will overlook as the name doesn’t ring a bell but I find them pretty pleasant and very musical and creative to fill the set and keep the pace going. My suggestion to all the labels who present new talents is to have always along the younger artists the safe back up of a known older name to remix it. That way will help the release to get some attention and people will notice the new name along the older one.

Andy Tau - Hidden Message [Alter Ego Pure]
![]() *Progressive Trance mixes*
1-Original Mix
2-Pamuya Remix
*Trance mixes*
1-Dan Stone Remix
2-Icone Remix [10/10 for the whole package]
“UK artist Andy Tau joins Alter Ego with the first of several releases coming from this talented producer. Hidden Message is a progressive trance sounding delight. Melodic and relaxed in its progression yet musically perfect. First up on remix duty is Dan Stone works his magic to create a remix of epic proportions. Label favourite Icon also remixed Hidden Message and as expected gave his remix a heavy injection of energy. The final remix in the package comes from Alter Ego artist Pamuya who has provided a sexy prog house / prog trance cross over remix. A perfect wrap up to another pure trance release”
Dimitri: When it comes to review a release from Andy Tau it always seems an easy thing to do cause you can be sure that he always produces quality material that has the ability to bring warmth and tenderness on the dance floor. Hidden Message is exactly that kind of a track and when you listen to it you get that feeling that you are in safe and trusted hands that guide you through an unforgettable journey. The remixes take the main lead melody and turn it into something very different with Pamuya delivering a cross-genre mix that will satisfy early trance birds and peak time prog blocks in equal measures. The trance mixes as you can guess are my thing and the choice of Dan Stone and Icone is the best that you can activate to deliver two ultra fat mixes that can elevate the beautiful melodies to the maximum. Dan Stone utilizes once again that electro influenced tech trance beat that bangs you nonstop until the break. The main melody of the track resembles the classic trance riffs made famous by Rank 1 and Dan highlights its importance in the way that he release it in his break . When the track resumes you will find difficult not to dance along with it. Icone once again in just 6 minutes turns an epic mix in that classic early 2000 style that is simple and effective without complications. The rest is up to you…
Carlos Almeida - Fat Yet Horny [Alter Ego Progressive]
![]() 1-Original Mix
2-Arty Remix
3-Mark Sonus Remix [10/10 for the whole package]
“Carlos Almedia aka Miikka Leinonen brings his groovy progressive sounds to Alter Ego, and what a way to do it. Devilish synth stabs dominate the atmosphere while a plucky lead whisks you along in the mix, not forgetting the chunky groove of course! Russian producer Arty works his progressive magic on Fat Yet Horny and whips up a smooth yet powerful rendition. To complete this single Mark Sonus provides a final remix with a unique take on the track. Crafting some extra melodies has really brought his mix to life. A new bass line also makes this a perfect alternative to the package!”
Dimitri: First of all, thumps up for the very cool name of the artist and the title of the track. For sure, people will not expect what to get cause this title in my mind is associated with funky housey even hip hop tunes. The big surprise is that the original track is an amazing and extremely clever prog house meets trance hybrid with disco elements and an amazing riff hidden in the heart of it in that twisted break. The first time that I checked it out I was like ‘what is this’. It has so much energy that for sure even your fat ex girlfriend will dance to it to impress you in order to get you back. Arty mix stripes down the many layers of sound and does a really wicked prog trance mix for peak time use and abuse. Mark Sonus is a new kid on the block for me and he has done a very descent mix that all the elements fall into their right place. Usually strange titles hide weak releases but in our case, the clever title signifies a release that is genius and unique. Be generous with it…

Dave Horne - Pushing Air [Nu Depth Recordings]
![]() *Progressive House remixes*
1-Original Mix[8.5/10]
2-Dave's Rapture Finality Intro Edit [8.5/10]
3-Harry Brown Remix [9/10]
*Trance*
1-Dan Stone Remix
2-Guy Mearns Remix [10/10 for both]
“After his debut on nu-depth digital early on last year, Dave Horne is back with the Progressive House gem 'Pushing Air'. With releases out on Solaris, Baroque and tracks forthcoming on AnjunaDeep, the future is looking bright for Dave Horne. This is a track that will really set the tone early on in the night for Trance floors. With its lovely piano moments dropping in and out at the right places, throw a couple of lush melodies and sweeping rises to the equation and we have one hell of a uplifting House track. Onto the remixes, Dan Stone from AnjunaBeats ups the tempo giving the track an epic uplifting feel and Guy Mearns is keeping the uplifting mood going just adding a chunkier groove to proceedings”
Dimitri: Nu Depth is one of those labels that manage because of Danny Power’s ability to sign continually great releases that you cannot afford not to include one mix from the always well put together package in your set or radio show. This new release is a surprise for me as I have never though this imprint to touch the prog house sound that is the current darling on the dance floor for many Dj’s. The original mixes certainly go deep and melodic but not in the level that I wanted them to be. Don’t get me wrong here, I find them very well produced I just feel that needed something more to keep the mind and the body interested. Harry Brown’s last prog house mix is much more epic and stronger perfect if you go for Axwell or Eric Prydz sound. Of course as you can expect my vote goes to the top trance mixes. Dan Stone by crafting a top electro trance with tech flavour kind of beats and bassline and with an amazing break that the original melody finds the place that deserves you can expect a really fine mix that stands in the reputation of Dan Stone. Finally Guy Mearnes pitch down and delivers a full on trance version that you can play when you feel that you need a track to save the night and cheer up all the uninterested punters. Road tested it yourself and this will last for long distance journeys for sure.

“Baroque records hit 100! As one of the UK's leading house music imprints, baroque have been releasing quality underground beats since the turn of the new millennium. The label has launched & nurtured the careers of some of the scenes most respected producers… such as Andy Moor, Tilt, Minilogue, Quivver, Shiloh, Luke Chable, D-nox & Beckers, Filo & Peri, James Harcourt, Jay Lumen, Tobias Lutzenkirchen , Sergio Fernandez, Soliquid, Eelke Kliejn, Manuel De La Mare, Paul Thomas, Lustral.. The list really does go on & on. As part of the 100th release package, Baroque is releasing this ‘century collection’ containing a mixture of new remixes of the labels previous releases, alongside some hot new singles from the baroque roster of artists, and one or two previously unreleased little gems!. Some massive brand new music, from some of the world’s finest producers. A perfect snapshot sound of Baroque”
Dimitri: Since 10 years Baroque continues to set the standards in the Progressive house scene in a global scale by discovering and giving the chance to grow some of the hottest properties of the prog house global movement. Century Collection offers the chance to all those who love Baroque artists to get hold some new and unreleased tracks and remixes of some well known classics and to all those who lately congregate in the prog house temple to get a glimpse of the greatness of that label. Some readers will think all sounds too much and superficial but I will ask them kindly to take a close look of the tracks included in this compilation and can be very sure that at the end of that sonic journey will hold the same view like me and become even more enthusiastic. The stand out moments are definitely the tracks by: Andy Moor, Ryan Mullin, Dibby Dougherty, Greed feat Lesley (Soliquid Remix), Innate - Parabolic Curve (Beat Factory Remix), Jay Lumen - Surface 'reborn' feat Panoptic (Ormatie Remix), Ridgewalkers ft. El - Find (Logic Stories Remix). New mixes on some of the best releases on that label that continues to explore in depth the vitality of the prog house scene and bring on the surface new talents that combine sounds and with anarchic touch produce their own hybrids difficult to pigeonhole them. If you are a producer and you want a very cool label to co-operate with I will certainly recommend Baroque and who knows maybe one day you will be on the next 20 years of Baroque compilation.

Ryan Mullin - JKs Call [Baroque special]
1-Colours Mix
2-Daniel Mehes Remix
3-Digital Impression Remix [10/10 for the full release]
“Ireland’s brightest young star , is back on Baroque.. His Debut 'Safe' pulled plaudits from across genres, and his remix of Shiloh 'Run Away' was an office fave here . Now his next release sees him take things peak time. With a pile driver of a track.. JKs call is full of bubbling energy from the off, in his Colours Mix format.. The Digital Impression mix takes things a little techier.. while the release also comes with a twisted up mix from Daniel Mehes.
Dimitri: Ryan becomes one of my favourite producers at the Baroque stable because of his consistency to deliver tunes that love the dance floor and are born to get sweaty and dirty. His name is a kind of blind guarantee for me as you know that this Irish bloke enter the building just to cause some hysteria. Tracks that I love to use in the early part of a trance set and can go full on power peak time in a prog tech house set. Colours mix is my absolute desired because he brings into play the old classic vocals about the Colours in the lighting system of a club. It’s an absolute hymn and the remixes included widen the appeal to other Dj’s who may don’t like so much thumping power on their set. Daniel goes in a more soft electronic tech house path and Digital Impression do a much more clubbier version with less vocals, less melody but full on banging power. It’s a very special release for sure

Bon Finix – Catwalker [Deep End]
![]() Bon Finix - Catwalker (2AM Mix) [House]
Bon Finix - Catwalker (Original Mix)[ Progressive House] [10/10 for both]
“Andreas Kyriacou is the man behind Bon Finix. He is half Cypriote and half Czech and currently living in the Czech Republic. He is one of the leading local DJ's with guest performances through the whole of Eastern Europe. And even performed Polish leading festival Electrocity. Now it's Bon Finix' second release on one of the Fektive Labels and after his previous 'Quantum Leap' track which got great response and plays from amongst others Wippenberg, Sied Van Riel, Andy Moor, San and more. Catwalker is another Gimmick track and has a very catchy lead melody which will serve various crowds. The release comes with 2 mixes; a more housey/techy original and a 2AM edit with a bit more proggy influences and stabs.”
Dimitri: Very cool and driving funky prog house tracks that I feel that both trance and house jocks will enjoy presenting to their audience and particularly girls will love to dance along the very catchy lead melody. It can really help the set to get a happier optimistic mode. That organ sound is very housey and you can be sure that audience responses will only be positive and supportive. 2am is much more closer to me but both should be tried out.

dPen - Dayworx [Bonzai Progressive]
![]() 1 - Blue Room Project Remix [10/10]
2 - Bobby Deep Mix [8/10]
3 - Thorin Remix [9/10]
4 - Original Mix [10/10]
“Greek producer dPen shows off his newest single Dayworx. Defo not a newcomer and praised highly on some download portals. His musical quest started already at the age of 7, during his studies at the university he started DJ'ing and sound found out there was more than just DJ'ing and started produced. After endless hours behind his computer he finally got it right and got his first release out in 2005. He's released via various well known labels and has received support from some of the biggest DJ's on the planet including Hernan Cattaneo, Sasha, John Digweed, Nick Warren, Armin Van Buuren, Tiësto, Paul Van Dyk,...”
Dimitri: dPen is a big talent and he proves it day after day. This release is prog house at its best that is deep and mysterious full of nice soundz and atmosphere that really reminds you the good old days of the uk progressive house scene. From the remix package Thorin goes for a tougher stronger interpretation that flows in a more tribal style, blue room mix is still deep, travelling and much more epic while Bobby deep mix is the weakest mix in my opinion. Minimal but without a point of departure and a point of arrival, like a journey in the deep blue sea without direction. Of course the whole package is necessary to buy.

ZOO BRAZIL – Fancy [Taste/d Music]
![]() 1-Original
2-Popof Remix
3-OD Muzique & Mark Holmes Remix [10/10 for the full release]
“John Andersson aka Zoo Brazil has been producing and writing music since the age of 11, and has released over 100 singles to date. This is the first release on rather new German label Taste/d Music and it’s destined to cement his legendary status after his 2009 releases and remixes on Turbo, Compuphonic, Harthouse, MBF, Joia, Love Minus Zero, Strictly Rhythm ….. With Frenchman Popof as remixer, one of the hottest DJ/producers on the planet and responsible for the most successful interpretation of Depeche Mode’s last single, “Fancy” has the potential to become one of the biggest releases in early 2010. Please also check the great Tech House mix from OD Muzique & Mark Holmes
Check: www.myspace.com/zoobrazil www.myspace.com/popofheretik”
Dimitri: Zoo Brazil is one of my favourite projects and I’m glad Tasted has a small taste from him. After his more mainstream Black Hole album in this release, he goes deep underground for a monster of a tune. Fantastic dark prog house meets nu rave style with that distorted lead that will drive ballistic followers of wide spectrum of styles from Dutch house naughty boys to the more nu rave style revolutionary trendy types. John is one of the brightest hopes of modern electronic music and this track proves it without second thought. Popof mix takes the track to a more electro house banging direction in a very electronic mix that you feel that is played live in the club and Popof is twisting and turning the buttons of his equipment. OD Muzic mix is a different kind of monster tune more tribalish and playful, really deep and very exciting. This is a fat release of a label that never fails.

Hybrid - Break My Soul [Distinctive Records]
![]() 1-Break My Soul
2-Break My Soul [Instrumental]
3-Break My Soul [Hybrid's Kill City Sounds Mix 01]
4-Break My Soul [Hybrid's Kill City Sounds Dub 01] [10/10 for the whole package]
“As a precursor to their fourth studio album, Hybrid return to the fray with a bold statement of intent. ‘Break My Soul’ is full of the unique sound that Hybrid is so well known for. New band member ‘Charlotte James’ augments the cinematic sounds and brings a new lyrical and song-based dimension to this 8 minute epic. Perhaps one of the fastest paced tracks that Hybrid has ever come up with, at 150bpm ‘Break My Soul’ is the touchstone of the coming album. It’s a fine encapsulation of the dynamic nature of 12 tracker and how Hybrid have built on their experience of over a decade in music.
‘Break My Soul' is wide-ranging in its musical diversity. The song describes how echoes of the past can be seen in everything. Its triumphant chorus states however that no matter how deep the scars may be, there are places that still remain your own. Epic ‘Day In The Life’ strings build into a unexpected and beautiful calm central section, only to return with more defiance than before for the final chorus. The package is completed by the instrumental mix and for the DJs the Kill City Sounds 01 mix and dub. These two mixes - by the band themselves - strips back the many layers and concentrates on dance floor elements.”
Dimitri: Hybrid is such a classic and first class act that anything they release is pure class and I’m glad that they will be back with a brand new album. This first single includes of course all the elements that we can expect from them. Superb dynamic vocals and fast break to create that cinematic feeling. Track that will be your perfect soundtrack in your life and the perfect soundtrack of a movie or fast paced adventure game. Kill City sounds mix is perfect for the dance floor. The ill use as I named it of the beautiful vocals but really distorted and deep in the background adds another dimension. Really nice and powerful this is quality in my opinion worth checking out.

Yves C - Muskie/Tashkent/Yerevan [Millia]
![]() 1- Moskau
2-Tashkent
3- Yerevan [9/10 for all 3]
“Yves C blasts into 2010 as he releases three new tracks hot on the heels of his first bomb,
Alliance. Be prepared to embark on a journey deep down into the underground of
dance… Continuing his exploration of the darker side progressive house, first track
Moskau opens with familiar tribal beats, tight grooves synced up besides haunting
Vocals for a match made in producer heaven. Electronically charged by saw-‐like
Synths and driving bass lines, Tashkent wouldn’t be out of place in a current Sebastian
Leger or Eric Prydz set, it’s evolved form having the same roots as the duo.
Finally capping off the trio of releases, Yerevan brings more breaks into the
equation, a classic example of Yves’ production skills as he skilfully crafts
together a sleek mix of instruments that come together to create a monster
of a track.”
Dimitri: Final release to review this week is the brand new EP from Yves C aka Yves La Rock. Certainly this producer can deliver tracks that mainstream Dj’s will support big time and at the same time he can dive deep into the underground and deliver 3 energetic prog house tracks that guarantee to pack your dance floor. Moskau is a very upbeat uplifting prog house track that uses a synthy riff that reminds us the 80’s electro pop bands. Even the vocals are so much in the line of bands like Depeche Mode. The break unleashes the very energetic male vocal and along with that playful synthy lead has some exotic undertones as well. Tashkent is more of a Moroder like track with a manic synthy lead that drive the track and I believe is good for prog house and even prog trance sets. Yerevan recalls moments of the old rave days with the main riff like being lifted from an early rave track and will be perfect for sets with Dutch House sound. All 3 are not to be missed as their performance on the dance floor has been tested extensively from Yves LaRock who travels every weekend in different continents.
