Interview written and conducted by Dimitri Kechagias “Flux Bpm on the Move”
Interview with the singer, songwriter, & dancer Marcie.
One of the most frequently appearing vocalists in trance and progressive tracks gets behind her lyrics.
When you are super busy like Marcie, who frequently appears in various electronic dance music projects, prepares and presents her own radio show, and performs in various clubs and party events all over the world, it is a miracle that she manage to get some free time to respond to the interview that follows. Whatever you wanted always to ask this very different and unique voice behind the tracks I come Running, In Silence, Red Forest, Please Forgive and many more I want to believe that are included in it. Her answers proves that behind her voice and lyrics there is a great artist who respects deeply what she does and she loves every minute devoted in whatever she touches…If you go to this year Maimi Winter Music Conference certainly you should check out the events that she is going to perform live her lyrics and this experience will be one that you will never forget.
Thanks so much to Paul for helping to arrange this interview.
Dimitri: Where were you were born?
Marcie: I was born in Rochester NY, near Toronto.
Dimitri: Do you come from a family that music was always present and in what kind of sounds were you exposed to back in those days?
Marcie: Yes, my parents are both very musical. My father played in a band throughout my childhood, and I went to his gigs, and listened to him practice in the house. He has a great voice, and stage charisma. I grew up listening to the music of the 50's-80's, since that was his love. My mother is a passionate and talented pianist, and also was a dancer. They never pushed their art on me. They let me try all sorts of activities, but early on I chose music, and never strayed from that. When I was a teenager, I would come home from school and spend hours every day in my room listening to CDs. Getting my license was amazing because I could drive around and blare the stereo in my own little bubble.
Dimitri: Can you tell us the songs and the singers that have influence your decision to become singer and why?
Marcie: When I would listen to my dad sing, I could feel a love for singing inside me, and I would want to sing along. My mom was always encouraging me to f ind my confidence and sing with emotional freedom.
I love the singers who tell stories with their voices, and are distinctive both on stage and off. My favorites include Elvis, Madonna, Bono, Barbara Streisand, Etta James, Tori Amos, Ani Difranco, Ben Folds, and many others! As a child, I was mostly exposed to mainstream artists. As I got older, I became inspired by music teachers, and performers who weren't given such widespread media exposure.
